Temples Admission and Guide

Before you are able to visit most Angkor temple complex, you need to possess a ticket. Tickets are sold in one-day, three-day and seven-day chunk. A one-day pass will be enough to see the highlights of the most high profile temples. Three-day pass will be sufficient to see most famous temples and some in detail but with the seven-day pass as much as necessary to really explore some of your favorite ruins and visit many of other minor structures as well. There is no ticket required to visit Kbal Spean, Phnom Krom, Boeung Mealea, West Baray and temples outside Angkor region. When purchasing a ticket, you need to provide two passport-sized photos. You can buy ticket at four different places: The main entrance on the road to Angkor Wat which is about 4 kilometers north of town, at the entrance of Angkor Wat, at Bakong in the Roluos Group and at Banteay Srey temple. To visit Phnom Kulen, there is an additional fee of $20 and it can be purchased at Phnom Kulen entrance.

You need to have a tour guide or guidebook to understand these magnificent temples otherwise the temples has no significance except rocks are piling on top of each other.

There are many qualified trained tour guides who are able to speak English, Japanese, French, Korean, Italian, Chinese, German, Thai and Spanish and they can be hired for $20 to $25 per day. Check with travel agents or hotel and guesthouse where you stay and they will be able to provide you credible information.
